Radiation Pattern and Scattering Properties of Optical Antennas

In the summer of 2015, I participated in an REU at UC Berkeley, Center for Energy Efficient Electronics Science (E3S). I was under the supervision of the center director, Prof. Eli Yablonovitch himself. My project was: Optical Antenna Enhanced Spontaneous Emission of Monolayer WSe2. I first designed and built a conoscope which enabled me to achieve far field radiation pattern imaging of optical antennas. I then characterized those optical antennas with photoluminescence, radiation pattern and scattering spectrum measurements. Towards the end, I did Lumerical FDTD simulation and verified my experimental results.
