I applied to a few REU programs for summer 2014 and ended up going to Georgia Institute of Technology’s MRSEC REU. I was chosen by Prof. Zhigang Jiang in the physics department, and spent the summer in cleanroom fabricating graphene micro-devices and doing magneto infrared spectroscopy experiments. In addition, I got to do experiments at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee, FL., rumors were that undergraduates were rarely permitted at this facility, so I was very fortunate.
